About the Author - Greg Rawls

 Greg Rawls is the creator of the Joshie the Elf series, a collection of STEM children’s books designed to spark curiosity and confidence in young readers. Drawing on a lifelong interest in science, creativity, and problem-solving, Greg writes stories that show children how to think—not just what to know. 

Greg Rawls grew up as an Army brat and was mostly raised in South Carolina. He earned a B.S. in Biology and an M.S. in Public Health and spent his career working as an occupational health and safety professional—using science and problem-solving to help keep people safe and healthy.

After retiring to Beaufort, South Carolina, Greg leaned fully into his creative side. He is an accomplished kiln-formed glass artist whose work is sold in galleries throughout South Carolina, a set designer and builder for local community theater, and a dedicated member of a dragon boat racing team—where teamwork, timing, and a lot of paddling can win medals (and sometimes bragging rights).

Greg writes children’s books that blend imagination with real-world STEM ideas, celebrating curiosity, creativity, and the belief that big dreams are best achieved through teamwork. When he’s not writing or making art, he’s usually building something, racing on the water, or dreaming up the next adventure in Joshie’s world.
